Gill Baines

As an artist and designer, I work from my home studio near Lockerbie. My work is inspired by my local environment, focusing on the wildlife around my home as well as the still life within it. These themes often begin as paintings and pen drawings, which I then scan into the computer to develop into surface pattern designs using digital software. I also create soaps from my own designs to complement my work and am a member of the Guild of Craft Soap & Toiletry Makers.

I grew up in the northeast of England where I taught art and design to children and adults before moving to Dumfries and Galloway. When I’m not creating my own artwork, I design book covers and marketing media for self-publishing artists.
