Richard Crabtree

Having graduated from Bournville College of Art in Birmingham in the 1980’s I worked in the graphic design industry for many years. A lifelong passion for drawing and painting led me to take an adult teaching course which enabled me to teach art to enthusiastic learners, initially at North East Worcester College then at other Art Societies around the Midlands.

After teaching and demonstrating for over twenty years I have recently relocated to Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway. I hope to continue to pass on my knowledge and experience of painting and drawing to aspiring artists here too. It really is fulfilling to see people enjoying their art and seeing their abilities grow. Please check my web site for classes, workshops and information on commissions.

The wonderful wildlife and landscape of Scotland are a constant source of inspiration and my first choice of painting subject. I love to attempt to capture the ever changing colours and textures of the woods, forests and burns. Watercolour, oil and pastel are my preferred mediums. I find that I can best express different subjects in different mediums. Oil for landscape and wildlife, watercolour for landscape/ loose sketches of most subjects and pastel particularly for animals.
