Mary Carroll
I am a self taught artist, originally from Twynholm, now living in Dalbeattie.
I was a solitary child and spent much of my time drawing and sketching but gave it up, returning to it only several years ago.
Having crept back into art as a digital artist, then moving to watercolour (still my ‘go to’ medium) I now class myself as a multidisciplinary artist – undertaking anything from a painting, sculpture or linoprint depending on my mood. I usually have a few projects on the go at once.
My work has been described as having depth of character, capturing the true spirit, feelings and movement of the subjects I create. I feel attuned to animals, the beautiful area in which we live and the natural world. Hopefully this is portrayed in my creations.
I am also singer and songwriter, performing with my guitarist husband Doug Carroll. Occasionally I incorporate the written word in my artworks.
