Laura Derby

Ruguara

Laura is a textile artist who creates hand tufted wool pile textiles as artful, practical furnishings for walls, floors and upholstery. She likes the idea of her work inviting connection with true nature in a deeper way by inviting people to relax, reflect, rejuvenate through use of mindfulness/ meditation mats, stools and art rugs.  Sharing appreciation of the natural world is the object of Laura’s work with one of her influences being Friedensreich Hundertwasser, painter, architect, ecological activist and philosopher. Working from a WASPS (Workshop and Artists Studio Provision Scotland) studio in the Artists Town of Kirkcudbright, Laura also welcomes commissions and enjoys working to achieve personal meaning for customers. Laura has a BA Honours Degree in Industrial Design (Woven Textiles) from the Scottish College of Textiles, now Heriot-Watt. Please feel free to connect to chat about ideas you have for artfully furnishing your home.
