Julie Hollis

In a former life I worked as a primary school teacher, having completed a teaching degree majoring in Art & Design at the University of Worcester. However, almost all of my twenty-five year teaching career took place in Dumfries and Galloway, with me latterly specialising in Additional Support for Learning. For the last eight years I have worked solely as a full time artist and I now have a small studio in the middle of Kirkcudbright.

I am heavily influenced by nature, choosing quiet places such as woodlands and seashores to inspire my work. Largely this takes the form of paintings, but I also work with natural fibres and plant materials to create wall-hangings, vessels and books. In this respect I am a pursuer of a creative theme, no matter where this takes me.
