Gill Baines

As an artist and designer, I work from my home studio near Lockerbie.

My work is inspired by my environment, from inside the home to the rural environment around it. These themes often begin as acrylic paintings on board and canvas, developing through to influence my paperworks, such as my cards and  fold-out origami sketchbooks. I am currently working with digital software to further develop and inform my ideas.

I studied Graphic Design at the University of Brighton where I was inspired by the diversity of the subject. This lead me to work in education where I taught for nearly twenty years, expanding my love of the creative processes within such a broad spectrum of Art and Design.

Sharing with others my passion for the environment through art is something I hope to continue to do through my own creations.
