A woodturner creates items from wood, using a lathe as the principal machine. The wood is attached to the lathe which rotates the wood at anything from 200 to 3,000 plus rpm while the turner shapes the wood using a variety of special tools. This is an ancient craft, shown in Egyptian tomb carvings, which is very much alive and evolving in the 21st century.
